Lab Observation While teaching addition and subtraction of integers students were revising a familiar rhyme: “Same signs we add, Opposite signs we subtract.” But I paused and added one more line: “When signs are opposite, the bigger value decides the final direction.” The class repeated it - and suddenly, the rule felt clearer.
